Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarships

Eligibility Awards are made annually to seventeen (17) graduating high school seniors who meet all of the following criteria: Complete an Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarship Application Demonstrate financial need Plan to enroll as full-time students in a degree-granting program at N.C. State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, or UNC-Greensboro Permanently reside and attend high school in one of the following counties: Alamance, Bertie, Caswell, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Swain, or Warren Of the 17 scholarships, one is awarded to a student from the areas of Greensboro and High Point and to a senior at the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics who is from an eligible county. SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship

The SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship Program will award at least one scholarship valued at $10,000 (payable at $1,250 per semester) to each of the 115 Local Education Agencies (“LEA”) in North Carolina to award to a graduating senior attending one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC System. Each graduating senior meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for the scholarship. The SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship will only be available to graduating public high school seniors who are either members of State Employees’ Credit Union (“SECU”) or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian. Any students interested in applying should contact Mrs. Brown for an application. Completed applications are due by February 14, 2019. 

BBB Torch Scholarships

BBB Torch Scholarships recognize students who personify high ethical standards as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity, and academic history. The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund

The NCSHP established this charitable fund at Triangle Community Foundation to benefit Hispanic students in North Carolina. We realize that the high cost of college tuition is often a major factor that students evaluate when considering college education.  The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund awards annual scholarships worth between $500 and $2,500  to help students who desire to attend college pay for their education.  Scholarships recipients are  recent graduates of North Carolina high schools who are of Hispanic/Latino background .  Recipients of a NC Hispanic College Fund scholarship must enroll in a degree program at a community college or a 2 or 4 year college/university and be committed to public service and community development. THE NAOMI RABB WINSTON SCHOLARSHIP IN TWO-DIMENSIONAL ART

An annual scholarship in honor of the late Naomi Rabb Winston, a distinguished artist and mother of Shirley Rabb Winston who endowed the Winston Scholarships, is available through the National Society of Arts and Letters to visual artists ages 16 to 22. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and promise of future success. The scholarship funds are for private study, special training or personal advancement in the applicants' chosen art fields. The funds can be used for college tuition and required art supplies, but not for housing, travel or personal expenses. Scholarship funds are sent to the institution, teacher or program selected by the scholarship recipient. Scholarship recipients have 15 months to use the funds. Applicants who have not received a scholarship may apply as often as their age allows. Scholarship recipients may not reapply for the scholarship, but are eligible to participate in other NSAL competitions.  Applications due to Chapters by February 1, 2019

Kurtz and Blum Essay Scholarship

The Wesleyan University Hamilton Prize for Creativity

2019 Electric Youth Tour: Free Week-long Trip to Washington, DC!

Wake Electric seeks applicants for a one-week, all expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. for the 2019 Electric Youth Tour. Winners also receive a $1,000 scholarship. Winners must go on the Washington Trip to be eligible for the $1,000 scholarship. The trip will be from June 15 – 21, 2019. Students who attend the Youth Tour will join 1,500 high school students from across the U.S. to learn about electric cooperatives, American history and the U.S. government.   Students will also visit the historic sites and federal facilities of the nation’s capital, as well as spend time with their congressional delegations. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded the following year upon proof of enrollment in a North Carolina college or university. Camino a la Universidad Event

The Ventanilla de Orientacion Educativa ( Window to Education ) at Raleigh will be collaborating with North Carolina State University on Saturday, December 1st, 2018  from 10 am to 4 pm  to offer a conference on college access for Spanish-speaking families. This conference, Camino a la Universidad  ( Pathway to University) , will provide various resources and information sessions about the college application process. Elon University Teaching Fellows

The  Elon Teaching Fellows Program is a four-year sequenced, developmental and transformational $29,500 scholarship opportunity for the preparation of teachers who will become leaders in the field.  After applying to Elon, students may apply to the Fellows Programs until the deadline of January 10, 2019 .   Elon Teaching Fellows participate in purposely designed enrichment experiences such as two winter term travel courses, a faculty mentored inquiry project, and a full semester abroad of study in New Zealand which includes a five-week internship in a local school

Award amounts:   up to $4,125 a semester ($8,250 a year) Loan funds may be used to cover the cost of tuition, fees, and books. Forgivable loans may be awarded for use at one of the five partner institutions for: North Carolina high school seniors: up to 4 years Students applying to transfer to an educator preparation program: up to 3 years Students already enrolled at one of the partner institutions who transition into an educator preparation program: up to 2 years Individuals with a bachelor’s degree who are pursuing preparation for teacher licensure: up to 2 years Awards are renewable annually for Fellows who continue to meet eligibility requirements. The Opportunity Scholarship for DACA Students

Local attorneys as well as active & retired police personnel will provide insight on how individuals and law enforcement personnel should appropriately engage with each other in order to provide a safe outcome for all involved parties. Duke HPREP DukeMed Pipeline program

The aim of this program is to provide additional foundation and experience for those students interested in pursuing a career in the health professions. Our program features medical students and members of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), as well as minority professional faculty who will give lectures and interact with participants, providing essential role models and interaction opportunities rarely experienced by the underrepresented high school student. The exposure to the educational institution and hospitals allows the student to envision him/herself in a similar setting six to seven years from now and encourages him/her to overcome the academic challenges and hurdles encountered along the way. NC American Chemical Society (ACS) Project SEED Program

NC-ACS Project SEED is a cost-free, statewide, year-round science enrichment program for academically talented students. The program includes a paid ($2500) summer internship. If selected, students who reside in Wake, Durham or Orange Counties will be responsible for their daily transportation to NC State, UNC-Chapel Hill or Duke University.  Students will prepare their research under the supervision of a university preceptor.
