Health Professions Recruitment Exposure Program

The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is an organization dedicated to addressing the needs and promoting the educational potential of the underserved. SNMA has several pipeline programs dedicated to this aim. The SNMA chapter of Duke University School of Medicine is searching for motivated minority high school students (9th-12th grades) in Durham to participate in its Health Professions Recruitment Exposure Program (HPREP). HPREP is an enrichment program that targets underrepresented high school students interested in the life sciences with the aim of providing these students with the opportunity to interact with medical students, faculty and health professionals. The Program consists of 9 three-hour seminars, approximately 2-3 Saturdays per month, between February and May. During this time, students will hear lectures on different issues in medicine, participate in hands-on group activities and discussions, and attend workshops on college essay writing and interviewing.
