Latino Open House at NCCU

There will be a special afternoon session to provide information about North Carolina Central University! In this session, we will discuss admissions, financial aid and campus life.  We will also have Latino Student Leaders to answer questions from the high school students and families. Our focus is on Latino students and their families, however, ALL are welcome. Interpretation services will be provided if needed. We will also have lunch.  The event will happen at the NCCU Nursing Building 1402 S. Alston Ave. Durham, NC 27707 from 1-3pm.  Please assist students in the RSVP process if possible. Full Ride Alert! The Golden Door Scholarship for DACA Students. Apply NOW!

The Golden Door Scholarship is a full, four year scholarship for DACA students.  Scholarship recipients will receive funding to support tuition, room and board for a four-year degree at Golden Door  partner schools  and schools offering in-state tuition to students with DACA status, beginning Fall semester, 2019.  Students who have applied to or are interested in other colleges should also apply. We will support students at non-partner schools on a case-by-case basis.   Note that Golden Door will match scholarship recipients to partner and other colleges, based on student preference and school admission slot availability. Golden Door will host two Webinars to answer FAQ's and provide tips on submitting college applications to give you the best chance of being offered admission to the school of your choice. September Science Seminar

The Science faculty invites you to the first of the 2018-19 Science Seminar series. All of the seminars will be at 3:30 p.m. in Collins 2-178 unless otherwise noted. On Sept. 19, Dr. Eleanor Spicer Rice will talk about weird spider sex, touching on survival strategies, natural selection, and needy boyfriends. On Oct. 17, Dr. Joshua Pierce will discuss drug development and antibiotic resistance. Please join us!

October Poetry Hour: Reflections in French

The October Poetry Hour, Reflections in French , will cover famous 19 th and early 20 th century poetry from France, French Canada, the Caribbean, and various African countries. The audience will learn how these works reflect the French-speaking world in recent history. Durham Tech French and Spanish Instructor Dr. Lisa Blair will lead the event on Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. in the Teaching and Learning Center, Philips 3-125. All are welcome to this fun and informal event. Refreshments will be served.

NCSU & DTCC C3 Program

There’s a new guaranteed admissions pathway from Durham Tech to NC State . NC State Community College Collaboration, or C3, is a program for Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Engineering students who wish to transfer to NC State. NC State will select 15 students a year for the program through a competitive admissions process. C3 students who maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA, attend full-time, and finish their associate’s degree at Durham Tech are guaranteed admission to NC State, although not necessarily to some competitive majors such as engineering or design. To be eligible for this new program, students must be in the beginning of their associate’s degree at Durham Tech (under 30 transferable credit hours), be residents of North Carolina, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students in the C3 program will receive advising from NC State, access to NC State’s specialized online advising and course planning tools, ability to enroll in designated NC State courses as a

Call for Nominations: The Park Scholarship-Full Ride to North Carolina State University

Outstanding seniors are encouraged to apply for nomination for the Park Scholarship. Middle College will nominate two students who will go on to be considered for this award. Nominees should be competitive applicants to North Carolina State University. Please review NCSU average admissions data to ensure your application is competitive. Call for Nominations: Full Ride to Davidson College for Scholar Athletes

LOWELL L. BRYAN SCHOLARSHIP An award for top scholar athletes, valued at $35,000 annually. As a scholar athlete, you know the meaning of hard work and setting goals, and the importance of discipline and focus. You are as comfortable discussing literature, science, and art as you are in the pool, or on the court, the track or the field. That training has paid off. You must be nominated by your school or by a member of the Davidson coaching staff to be considered for a Lowell L. Bryan Scholarship. The scholarship is renewable, totaling up to $140,000 during the recipient's Davidson career, provided you continue to play your eligible sport, maintain a specified grade point average, and meet requirements toward earning a degree. ELIGIBILITY One female and one male scholar athlete in each first-year class are awarded the scholarship. To be considered, you must participate in an eligible sport: Men's Golf Wrestling Baseball Men's and Women
