John Wright Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Value:  $5,000 Awards Available:  1 Award Deadline:  March 15, 2019 The John Wright Memorial Scholarship Program funds one student scholarship per year. This scholarship was established at TREE Fund by Wright Tree Service in honor and memory of its founder, John L. Wright, and his son, John R. Wright. The purpose of this one-year scholarship is to support the arboriculture industry by helping college students interested in commercial arboriculture achieve high academic goals without accumulating burdensome debt. QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program

The application is now open! Deadline to apply: March 20, 2019. The Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club of Durham Scholarship

The Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club of Durham will award two $1,000 scholarships during the 2018-2019 school year.  These scholarships will be awarded to two seniors graduating in Spring 2019 from one of the Durham Public high schools who will further their education at a four year college (or a community college), beginning in Fall 2019. The students must reside in Durham County.  The financial award will be made directly to the Financial Aid Office at the selected student’s post-secondary school. Students selected as winners will be invited, with a parent, to attend a lunch meeting with Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club members during the summer of 2018. At that time the winner will receive a certificate of their award, and will be asked to speak briefly about themselves and their plans. Scholarship winners will be selected by a committee composed of members of the Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club.  Selection will be made based on points awarded by this committee when judging the vario

Cobell Scholarship

Administered by Indigenous Education Inc., this scholarship for the academic year 2019-20 is awarded to tribally enrolled American Indian and Alaska Native students. Students must have a competitive GPA and plan to attend college full time at a public or private nonprofit institution. Young Leaders Summit (YLS)

Administered by a consortium led by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, YLS is a free, four-day, overnight college empowerment conference for top-performing, Pell Grant—eligible, high school juniors. It's designed to give a diverse group of students the tools to successfully apply to top universities, have full access to financial aid opportunities, and set a course for success. UNCF STEM Scholars Program

Administered by the UNCF (United Negro College Fund), this scholarship is open to African American high school students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and pursue careers in STEM fields. 2019 Charles Ullman & Associates Scholarship Essay Contest

The scholarship is being offered to NC students Charles Ullman & Associates. It offers three cash awards to the top three essays responding to the following prompt: "How can men become allies for the MeToo movement? Since the movement promotes women speaking out, what can men to do make victims of harassment become more comfortable speaking out? How do you think the movement has changed environments in the workplace, social life, and other areas?"  The deadline is April 15th, 2019, and winners will be announced by May 15th. UNC Chapel Hill Project Uplift

Project Uplift  is a summer enrichment and college access program designed to promote and increase access to higher education for all outstanding students, especially those underrepresented in post-secondary education. Every year, during May and June, approximately 1,000 high school seniors participate in one of four separate Project Uplift sessions. During this two-day experience, Project Uplift participants live on Carolina’s campus, interacting with faculty, staff and current students, participating in educational, cultural and social activities. Project Uplift Scholars have the opportunity to immerse themselves in college life and experience the academic rigor and social climate of a four-year institution. For 50 years, Project Uplift has consistently provided a diverse selection of rising high school seniors from across the state of North Carolina with an opportunity to live, lead, and learn about the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a first-hand basis.
