J. Howard Coble Scholarship

The J. Howard Coble Scholarship was established in 2016 by Congressman Coble’s nephew Dr. Ray Coble and his wife Chris Coble who created a fund at the High Point Community Foundation to honor Congressman J. Howard Coble. The scholarship is intended to provide financial support for deserving students who demonstrate the ideals and leadership qualities of Congressman Coble. The scholarship will support incoming freshmen as a first priority and will be awarded to one or more students who demonstrate the ideals and leadership qualities of Congressman Coble, including high moral character and good citizenship.  Priority will be given to children of U.S. military personnel or U.S. military veterans, members of scouting programs, and members of ROTC programs. Couch Oil Cares Scholarship Program

The Couch Oil Cares Scholarship Program was established in 2015 in an effort to help defray the rising costs of higher education. Again this year, Couch Oil Company is teaming up with the Durham Bulls to award scholarships to six deserving students. The $1,000 scholarship is available to students who have been accepted into either a four-year or community college and reside in a 16-county area surrounding the Triangle. Fieldbloom Scholarship: $1500 Scholarship Opportunity

The $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to one student and the money will be transferred to their University to go towards the tuition fee. The student will be chosen based on their creativity in and commitment to what they're studying. The choice will be made by a scholarship committee of 2 marketing experts and 2 entrepreneurs. James M. Schooler Sr. African American Male Scholarship

Beta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. established the James M. Schooler Sr. African American Male Scholarship as one of our many avenues designed to assist young men in Durham and Orange County to assist in attending college. The award is named in honor of Dr. James M. Schooler, Sr., who dedicated many years of service to the youth in the Durham Community and was a charter member of the Beta Theta Lambda Chapter. This $1000.00 scholarship offers African-American males who are planning to enroll in college during the 2018- 2019 academic year an opportunity to compete for this award. Qualified students must have satisfactory grades, exhibit leadership, and be of high moral character. A personal interview may be considered to make a determination the need for final award selections. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Scholarship

The Phi Beta Sigma scholarship program encourages graduating high school seniors to apply for scholarship monies. Award amounts may vary. Academic excellence, displayed leadership abilities, and participation in extracurricular activities are taken into consideration during the awarding process. FOCUS Scholarship

Award Amount :                 $1,000 (4 year College); $500 (Community College) Targeted Schools :            High Schools located in Durham and Orange County Applicant Eligibility: 1.        Applicant is a graduating high school senior who attends a high school within Durham or Orange counties and has been either a) accepted into a college/university or b) plans to enroll in a community college. 2.        Applicant currently maintains an “unweighted” 2.5 GPA or higher. 3.        Applicant provides evidence of community service involvement or experience. 4.        Selected recipient must attend or send a representative to the Award Ceremony on the 4th Saturday in June. 5.        Applicant must be an African American female. 6.        Proof of enrollment is required in order for funds to be released. 7.        A scholarship award is no t renewable and the recipient can only apply once.
