James M. Schooler Sr. African American Male Scholarship

Beta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. established the James M. Schooler Sr. African American Male Scholarship as one of our many avenues designed to assist young men in Durham and Orange County to assist in attending college. The award is named in honor of Dr. James M. Schooler, Sr., who dedicated many years of service to the youth in the Durham Community and was a charter member of the Beta Theta Lambda Chapter. This $1000.00 scholarship offers African-American males who are planning to enroll in college during the 2018- 2019 academic year an opportunity to compete for this award. Qualified students must have satisfactory grades, exhibit leadership, and be of high moral character. A personal interview may be considered to make a determination the need for final award selections.
