Diversity Overnight Program at Case Western Reserve University

Case Western Reserve University is currently accepting student applications for Diversity Overnight, Nov. 11 and 12. Applications are due Monday, Oct. 1. Diversity Overnight is designed for smart and curious high school seniors from diverse backgrounds, to give them an in-depth look at the opportunities available to our students. Diversity Overnight Application → Participants accepted to Diversity Overnight stay in a residence hall with a student host, engage with faculty and learn about the many opportunities available to students at CWRU and throughout the campus in Cleveland's University Circle. On Monday, participants will join hundreds of other prospective CWRU students at Fall Open House, where they will learn more about how students contribute to classroom discussions, participate in meaningful extracurricular activities and engage in hands-on learning. High School Portfolio Review Day

The Nasher invites area high school students in grades 11 and 12, who are interested in pursuing an education in the visual arts, to attend our second annual portfolio day. Representatives from area universities and museums as well as local visual artists will be on hand to review your artwork, provide feedback and advice, and answer questions in a supportive environment. This is a non-competitive and fun way to get feedback on your artwork in preparation for applying to college. Your portfolio should include 5-10 pieces of your best and most recent work, but can also include works in progress, sketchbooks and tear sheets. Come prepared to discuss your creative influences and process. This program is free and open to area high school students in grades 11 and 12. Limited slots are available and students must complete this application in advance to participate. Priority will be given to students in their senior year. Transfer Connections is an annual forum for learning about four-year college transfer options. This year's theme is centered around Historically Black Colleges & Universities. Call for Applications: The Youth Justice Project

The Youth Justice Project , a project of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice , is launching our second cohort of the Youth Steering Committee in order to amplify the voices of young people who are passionate about ending the school-to-prison pipeline. We are seeking Durham applicants ages 14-18 years old who are directly impacted by the criminal justice system and/or are deeply passionate about ending the school-to-prison pipeline. The applications are available on this webpage . They can be submitted electronically or printed out and mailed in. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, September 4. Full Ride Alert! The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship Program at UNC CH

This unprecedented program for student writers—funded at roughly the same level as the University’s prestigious Morehead Scholarship—provides a full scholarship to one incoming freshman each year for four years, beginning in fall 2002. The scholarship is not limited to fiction writers: applications are welcomed from student poets, playwrights, fiction writers and journalists across the country, and each Wolfe Scholar will be a young writer who shows extraordinary promise. The scholarship was endowed by Frank Borden Hanes Sr. ’42 to honor Wolfe ‘20—who as a UNC student edited The Tar Heel and wrote and starred in “The Return of Buck Gavin” (one of the first productions of Playmakers Repertory Company), later remembering Chapel Hill fondly in his classic 1929 novel Look Homeward, Angel—and to support the creative writing program.
