Dr. James M. Schooler, Sr. 2020 African American Male Scholarship

 The Beta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. established the James M. Schooler Sr. African American Male Scholarship to support young men in Durham and Orange County in attending college. The scholarship is named in honor of Dr. James M. Schooler, Sr., who dedicated many years of service to the youth of Durham as a principal (Whitted Junior High and Shepard Junior High) and was a charter member of the Beta Theta Lambda Chapter. The application for this $1000.00 scholarship is open to African American males who are planning to enroll in college or university during the 2020 fall semester. To be competitive for the scholarship, applicants must have satisfactory grades, exhibit leadership, and be of high moral character. Project Uplift and Uplift PLUS   These enrichment programs enable high-achieving, current high school juniors to experience college life on the Carolina campus. We need your assistance in identifying outstanding students to participate in these unique experiences.  PROJECT UPLIFT seeks to engage current high school juniors in an immersive two-day experience that connects them with UNC-Chapel Hill and other four-year colleges and universities. Participants live on campus; interact with faculty, staff and current students; engage in educational, cultural and social activities and learn about admissions and college affordability. SECU People Helping People Scholarship

The SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship Program will award at least one scholarship valued at $10,000 (payable at $1,250 per semester) to each of the 115 Local Education Agencies (“LEA”) in North Carolina to award to a graduating senior attending one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC System. Each graduating senior meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for the scholarship. The SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship will only be available to graduating public high school seniors who are either members of State Employees’ Credit Union (“SECU”) or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian. 2020 Brothers United in Leadership Development (B.U.I.L.D.) Summit

The College of Education at NC State University is excited to announce the 2020 Brothers United in Leadership Development (B.U.I.L.D.) Summit will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020   on the main campus of North Carolina State University.  The B.U.I.L.D. Summit is an annual event designed to expose 9th-11th grade high school male students--particularly male students of color--to the diverse role of leaders in a growing global society.  The theme for this year's B.U.I.L.D. Summit is " Vision 2020: Building Confidence, Community, and Connections ".
