The Kathrine R. Everett,
Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship
Application Rules
DUE: December 1, 2017

            This scholarship is awarded based on the candidate’s character, scholastic records, evidence of intellectual promise, demonstration of ambition, leadership ability, and need for financial assistance. Applicant must be present for judging and presentation of the scholarship at the time and place designated.
1. Applicant must be a resident of North Carolina and must be a member of a senior class in an accredited North Carolina School.
2. Applicant must be in the upper fourth of the class.
3. Applicant must use the official application form (or copies of) published in the Forms sections of the current GFWC-NC Administration Book.
 4. The scholarship is to be used at a four-year college or university in the state of North Carolina.


THE FOLLOWING MUST BE SUBMITTED:

Check when sent:

____  1. Application form.
____  2. Recent photograph.
____  3. A personal letter as to why student desires to continue their education, the student’s                            future plans, and why financial aid is necessary.
____  4. Letter of recommendation from either the school principal, school guidance counselor,
                        Or a school teacher.
____  5. Letter of recommendation from a business or professional person OTHER THAN
                        SCHOOL PERSONNEL.
____  6. High school transcript with grades through the first semester of senior year, complete
                        SAT scores, class rank with number of students in class, and grade point average                                       weighted and un-weighted.
____  7. Copy of most recent Federal Tax Returns for applicant’s parent(s) and applicant. Document    
                          any significant changes in family income if necessary.
____   8. Letter of recommendation from the President of sponsoring club
