The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund

The NCSHP established this charitable fund at Triangle Community Foundation to benefit Hispanic students in North Carolina. We realize that the high cost of college tuition is often a major factor that students evaluate when considering college education. The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund awards annual scholarships worth between $500 and $2,500 to help students who desire to attend college pay for their education.  Scholarships recipients are recent graduates of North Carolina high schools who are of Hispanic/Latino background.  Recipients of a NC Hispanic College Fund scholarship must enroll in a degree program at a community college or a 2 or 4 year college/university and be committed to public service and community development.

2019-2020 Scholarship Cycle: September 18, 2018 – January 15, 2019

Selection Criteria

  • Graduate of a NC high school within the past 2 years
  • A four-year cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • 2 letters of recommendation from a high school teacher, principal, pastor, employer, or other community leader
  • An official high school transcript
  • Personal statement (500 words)

Additional Considerations

  • Preference will be given to foreign-born applicants or the native born children of foreign-born parents.
  • Recipients will be chosen based on: family economic need, community involvement, academic achievement, volunteerism and leadership.

John Wright Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Value:  $5,000 Awards Available:  1 Award Deadline:  March 15, 2019 The John Wright Memorial Scholarship Program funds one student scholarship per year. This scholarship was established at TREE Fund by Wright Tree Service in honor and memory of its founder, John L. Wright, and his son, John R. Wright. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.
