ACLU Summer Program in DC for High School Students


The ACLU National Advocacy Institute is the perfect place for young advocates who are eager to hone their advocacy skills and learn strategies for grassroots organizing. This week-long summer program, developed in partnership with the Close Up Foundation, (July 22-28, 2020) in Washington, DC, gives students the unique opportunity to explore important social justice and civil liberties issues directly from ACLU lawyers, experts, and community activists.

  • Electives covering the ACLU’s wide array of issue areas.
  • Seminars to explore social justice and civil liberties issues.
  • Rally and meetings with elected officials or their staff on Capitol Hill.

  • High school students 15-18 years old. (Must have completed one year of high school by June 2020, and the graduating class of 2020 is welcome to apply.) 
  • Priority Decision: Applications are due February 16th.  
  • Financial Aid: Full and partial scholarships are available.

Project Uplift at UNC Chapel Hill

Project Uplift and Uplift PLUS   These enrichment programs enable high-achieving, current high school juniors to experience college life on the Carolina campus. We need your assistance in identifying outstanding students to participate in these unique experiences.  PROJECT UPLIFT seeks to engage current high school juniors in an immersive two-day experience that connects them with UNC-Chapel Hill and other four-year colleges and universities. Participants live on campus; interact with faculty, staff and current students; engage in educational, cultural and social activities and learn about admissions and college affordability. $1,000 Scholarship For Those Affected By Auto Accidents

The Dirk Derrick Car & Truck Accident Injury Scholarship is an award for any  current or soon-to-be undergraduate   student in the United States  who has had his or her life altered due to an injury from a car or truck accident, be it their own injury, that of a loved one, or an influential individual. The Dirk Derrick Scholarship has a brief submission process, and applicants will be judged  on their ability to convey the lasting effect an auto accident has had on their life as well as their journey to overcome those challenges.  Applicants may apply via the Google Form below.
