Project Uplift and Uplift PLUS These enrichment programs enable high-achieving, current high school juniors to experience college life on the Carolina campus. We need your assistance in identifying outstanding students to participate in these unique experiences. PROJECT UPLIFT seeks to engage current high school juniors in an immersive two-day experience that connects them with UNC-Chapel Hill and other four-year colleges and universities. Participants live on campus; interact with faculty, staff and current students; engage in educational, cultural and social activities and learn about admissions and college affordability. UPLIFT PLUS is a five-week residential program for Project Uplift participants. During the program, participants live on campus, attend SAT/ACT coaching sessions and take English 100 (3 credits). The Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club of Durham will award two $1,000 scholarships during the 2018-2019 school year. These scholarships will be awarded to two seniors graduating in Spring 2019 from one of the Durham Public high schools who will further their education at a four year college (or a community college), beginning in Fall 2019. The students must reside in Durham County. The financial award will be made directly to the Financial Aid Office at the selected student’s post-secondary school. Students selected as winners will be invited, with a parent, to attend a lunch meeting with Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club members during the summer of 2018. At that time the winner will receive a certificate of their award, and will be asked to speak briefly about themselves and their plans.
