Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated is a membership organization consisting of mothers with children ages 2‐19, dedicated to nurturing future African‐American leaders by strengthening children. Our National Programming Thrusts are:

Durham Chapter
The Durham Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated was founded on October 9, 1945 and has a rich history. Durham was the sixth chapter founded within the organization and the first chartered in the Mid‐Atlantic Region.  

Through the years, the Durham Chapter has supported various local and national organizations with monetary gifts and contributions; volunteered hundreds of community service hours and participated in a variety of activities and events. The chapter has partnered with community projects and organizations to include: March of Dimes, Book Harvest, Hayti Heritage Center,  Partners with Youth Opportunities, Boys & Girls Club of Durham and Orange Counties, NAMI Durham and Alliance Health.

Scholarship Criteria and Qualifications:  
A scholarship will be awarded to promote our National Theme:  “The Power to Make a Difference” and to support an aspiring African American male leader.  Candidates will be evaluated by a committee based on their academic achievement, evidence of community service, leadership qualities, need and the strength of the essay response.    

Ideal candidates are:
·         An African American male  
·         A resident of Durham, Orange or Chatham county
·         A leader actively engaged in civic, community and/or philanthropic service to Durham,
Orange and/or Chatham County schools and/or communities.
·         A graduating senior that will be a first‐year undergraduate, who has been admitted and plans to enroll his first semester at a community college, college or university the Summer or Fall of 2020 (if you are awarded the scholarship, you will be required to provide us with a copy of your acceptance letter).
·         Demonstrate a current high school GPA of 2.5 or higher (You will be required to submit a transcript to jjdurhamscholarship@gmail.com).
·         Not the child of an active, tenured mother or legacy mother or father of Jack and Jill of America Incorporated or Jack and Jill of America Foundation (Parent or student).
